Why did Summit Pathology "move out" of the hospital?
Summit has not abandoned our hospitals!
For many years, our pathologists have taken great pride in our service to our clinician colleagues as part of our work in both North Colorado Medical Center and McKee Medical Center. Recently, we had the opportunity to open our own histology laboratory and consolidate many functions that were being duplicated at the two hospitals. In February 2008, we opened our new laboratory at Skyline Center for Health.
Despite the fact that surgical specimens from each facility are processed at Skyline, Summit Pathology's commitment to excellent service at our hospitals is undiminished! We retain offices at both facilities, and pathologists are physically present as before at both hospital laboratories. We still perform frozen sections, analyze fine needle aspirations, review blood smears, consult on blood product use, troubleshoot clinical laboratory issues, and all the other things we have always done at the hospitals.
