How do I package my specimen to send to Summit Pathology?

Proper packing and transport of biopsy specimens from your office to our laboratory is essential to keep the specimens ready for processing and interpretation.

After the specimen is collected and placed in the formalin-filled container (provided by Summit Pathology), the container must be sealed tightly to prevent leakage of the fixative and specimen. Label the specimen container (rather than the lid) with at least the patient's name and specimen site, and place the sealed container in the clear biohazard bags supplied by Summit Pathology. After completion of the requisition, place the requisition in the outer, dry compartment in the clear biohazard bag. Place completed specimens in the designated area of your office to await pick-up by our couriers.
